Favorite Holiday Recipes

Here are a few of my favorite holiday recipes for both Hanukkah and Christmas!

Air Fryer Latkes

This is the recipe we used to make air fryer latkes this year! They were delicious – and MUCH healthier.

I decided to try a bunch of different toppings:

  • Classic Applesauce / Sour Cream
  • Brie + Fig Jam
  • Cream cheese, lox, capers & dill
  • Garlic & Herb Goat Cheese + chives

Air Fryer

This is the air fryer we recently purchased from Costco – it’s no longer available on their site but I found it online at best buy linked here.

Food Processor

We used our Hamilton Beach food processor’s shredding disk to shred the potatoes and onions for our latkes. Much easier than hand grating – linked here!

Air Fryer Sufganiyot

Okay so I’m not gonna lie, when I make some dishes I look for the EASIEST way possible – and this was no exception. Instead of making homemade dough we bought canned biscuits to make these jelly-filled doughnuts! It was SO EASY and I have no regrets. I’ve seen a lot of people recommend using pre-made pizza dough, but that just didn’t sound as appetizing to me. We tried both Pillsbury Grands homestyle biscuits and Immaculate Baking Company flaky biscuits, both were great!

I followed the instructions for the air fryer section of the recipe linked above, but the rest was just using canned biscuits and then filling some with jam and some with Nutella – then dusting with powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar on top! Yummy!

Hanukkah Platter

Found this gorgeous Hanukkah platter from Target, linked here.

Pastry injector

We ordered this online from amazon (linked here) to inject the sufganiyot with jam and Nutella. We used our favorite Bonne Maman jams in strawberry and raspberry flavors.

Pro tip: warm up the Nutella a little bit to make it easier to inject.

Tori Avey’s Savory Slow Cooker Brisket

This brisket recipe is one of our favorites. It’s easy to follow and we LOVE a good slow cooker brisket packed with flavor and a little kick with the addition of cayenne pepper! We made this for one of our Hanukkah dinners this year and it was a big hit.

Crock Pot

This is similar to the crock pot we have at home – we use it all the time and love all the setting options!

Vitamix Blender

I finally broke down and purchased a Vitamix last year during black Friday sales and I’m so glad I did. It does literally everything and is easy to use and clean.

Martha Stewart’s Roast Goose

Nothing says Christmas like a roast goose! I know this isn’t a very common selection for your Christmas dinner, but I absolutely LOVE it! Goose has such a rich and delicious flavor, and as always Martha’s recipe knocks it out of the park.

We made this for Christmas in 2017 at my mother-in-law’s home in France and it was EVERYTHING. I’ve been dying to do it again so we’ve placed an order for a goose from a local butcher to make this year.

Roast with carrots and celery per the recipe and add a side of mashed potatoes and green beans to finish it off!

*Not sure where to find a goose? You can order goose and many other “specialty” meats to be delivered to you from D’Artagnan.

*If you’re local to Northern Virginia you can also check out the Organic Butcher of McLean

MEATER Thermometer

There’s a reason this was on Oprah’s Favorite Things list last year, we LOVE the MEATER. It’s a wireless meat thermometer that lets you track the cooking from your phone. Definitely a game changer when it comes to making sure your meat is cooked to the perfect temperature.

Prime Rib + Horseradish Cream Sauce

Another Christmas dinner favorite in our home is prime rib. This is a recipe we make more often for the holidays and it’s always scrumptious – and fairly simple to make! We like to combine the two recipes (linked above) to get the flavors we want. Get a good cut and slather it with garlic and herbs, roast in the oven and serve! This horseradish cream sauce pairs perfectly.

Add a leafy greens salad and roasted fingerling potatoes to complete the meal.

Roasting Pan + Rack

We use this roasting pan ALL THE TIME. I love that it comes with the rack and it’s easy to clean.

Magic Bullet Blender

My friend Jordan gave me this Magic Bullet a few years ago and I love it! We use it often to make smoothies and sauces, but specifically for the recipe above we use it to blend up the herbs and garlic.
